Lilly was still pretty exhausted after our first day at the park so she slept while Aaron and I got ready. Just as I was finishing up, I heard a "Huh?" come from the bed. I turned to see her sitting up, pointing at a banana on a nearby table. My hungry bug.
We made it to breakfast and filled up on pancakes, hash browns and other goodies. Lilly almost devoured an entire orange quarter. We took it away when we realized she was eating the peel.
Our hotel was right next door to Disneyland so we got there pretty easily. Our original plan was to spend Day II in Fantasyland. This section of the park is always busy so we figured we could spend an entire day there. But once we parked and realized California Adventure wasn't even open yet, we decided to give Ariel one more shot.
We got in line behind two other families who apparently had the same idea as us. After waiting for about 20 minutes, they opened the gates and started letting us into the park. Suddenly there was a huge mob of crazies running to the Little Mermaid ride. Aaron grabbed Lilly's stroller and took off. Even at 34 weeks pregnant, I was outrunning most of the herd. (In case you didn't know this about me, I'm very competitive.)
We made it to the ride with just a small line in front of us. (We would have been even faster if we didn't have to find a place to park the stroller. Drat!) They were giving Grand Californian Hotel guests first dibs so our wait was a little longer than we thought it would be. Lilly passed the time waving at Mickey.
After about half-an-hour of waiting we were climbing into over-sized clam shells and heading under the sea! I was so excited! I watched The Little Mermaid way too many times as a kid and I was so jazzed about this ride. Lilly loved the dancing sea creatures and she even busted out a few moves right along with them. I was a sobbing mess by the time the ride ended. It was perfect!
We were just about to leave when I coerced Aaron into riding Monsters, Inc. again. This ride is just so cute! Again, there was no line and we walked right on. We stopped at a store on the way out because by this time my feet were so swollen that my shoes didn't fit. I was hobbling around with Vienna sausage toes. Aaron found the Mickey Mouse shirt of his dreams, Lilly got an awesome stuffed Sully doll and I spent way too much money on a pair of ridiculous looking Mickey Mouse crocs to relieve my sausage feet. We grabbed our souvenirs and headed to Disneyland.
On the way over, I got the bright idea that we should all wear matching Mickey shirts and really cheese it up. I found my shirt pretty easily, but cool toddler-sized shirts were hard to find. We headed to Fantasyland and rode a few rides. While on Pinocchio, the ride completely broke down. The lights turned on and an attendant came to escort us out. We tried to take a picture with Geppetto, but we were busted and asked to keep moving. Lilly was getting cranky so we decided it was time to refuel.
After lunch (Lilly especially loved dipping her apple slices in ketchup) and some more rides, we headed to Adventureland to get a delicious Dole Whip and visit the world-famous Enchanted Tiki Room. As Aaron waited on the Whip, I ran into a store and found the perfect Lilly shirt. She was pretty excited to put it on. This girl loves new clothes!
She also loved the Tiki Room. (Here we are, days later, and she still keeps telling us about the singing birds and the drumming tiki guys. Adorable.) She passed out soon after and Aaron and I shared a churro behind her back. You snooze, you lose!
While she slept, we got in line for the Peter Pan ride. It was a 45-minute wait and my sweet husband held our sleeping Lilly almost the entire time. She woke up just in time to board. (This is probably the best ride in Fantasyland... that's why the wait usually womps.) Lilly and I rode the carousel afterward. She kept waving to the horses while we waited but by the time we got on, she was totally over it.
We had plans to meet with some friends for dinner, so we were going to leave kinda early. I wanted to squeeze in one more ride, though. We ran back to California Adventure and boarded that giant ferris wheel that Lilly loved so much. I thought it was relaxing, Lilly thought it was whatever, and I think Aaron was trying not to puke. All in all, I think it was the best way to end our mini-vacation.
Everything was perfect! I am so blessed to have such a sweet little family.
