The Perfect Tea Party Table

In case you never read this blog, let me fill you on something. The Ronin girls love tea parties. We tea party it up like there's no tomorrow. I don't even like real tea, but I will totally drink some imaginary tea any day.

Anyway, I have been on the hunt for a table to use for our tea parties and coloring parties and really just any party that involves guests that are three feet tall. I was considering buying a cheap one from IKEA, but one day, I got a call from my wonderful grandma asking if I would be interested in this tiny old metal table she had hanging around.

Let me clarify, a tiny old metal table that belonged to her older sister. A tiny old metal table that has been in the family for more than 70 years. SEVENTY YEARS.

Of course, I wanted it! I mean, I couldn't believe she wanted to give this treasure to my girls. (My grandma has like, a million grandchildren/great-grandchildren.)

Of course, it did need some work. And of course, I didn't get a before picture. (Just imagine a dinged up metal table with two metal chairs covered in torn up pleather and badly in need of an upholstery makeover.)

Anyway, I practically ran to her house to pick it up. Grandma, the girls and I all went shopping for fabric together, too. We went back to her place and began the re-upholstery job.

Well, fast forward a few weeks, (and some sanding and some chalkboard paint) and here we are. May I present to you, The Perfect Tea Party Table:

Isn't she pretty? I love it! And I love the fact that my grandma and I picked out the fabric together. Gorgeous, right?!

Speaking of gorgeous, look at my girl.

Post-sanding, pre-paint job.

We've already had a few parties, of course.

Apparently, clothes are optional but fancy hats are encouraged.

My grandma is working on getting a picture of her sister using this table when she was little. I'll be sure to post it once I get it. Actually, I think if we looked hard enough, we could probably find pictures of everyone in my family sitting at this table at some point.

Gah. I love that.
