4. Addie's first beach party!
I have been feeling kind of sicky lately. My throat is on fire and I just want to nap all day. Of course, being a stay-at-home mama with two kids, that's definitely not on the agenda. I was feeling particularly crappy earlier this week, so Aaron took both girls to Addie's doctor appointment while I stayed home and relaxed. (Read: vacuumed, dusted, folded laundry.) He's my hero. I was feeling a lot better by the time they got home, so we decided to not waste our beautiful day together. We hurriedly threw some towels and snacks in a bag, lathered on some sunscreen and drove to Huntington Beach.
I don't think Lilly knew what to expect, especially when she first stepped foot in the sand. She was only eight months old the first (and last) time she went to the beach, so this was a totally new experience for both of our babies.
Of course, Addie loved it all. She kept waving and grunting at the water. Aaron dipped her feet in for the first time...
and she was totally over it. I tried again later and she would not unbend her legs for anything. She prefers to enjoy the ocean from a comfortable distance.
Lilly, on the other hand, loved the waves. Loved! She kept yelling things like, "More! Do it again! Here it comes! Oh! Here comes the big one!"
We would wait for the waves to come in and then make a run for it.
But every so often, one of us would take a wave to the face or lose our footing.

We walked down to the pier to have a late lunch/early dinner at Ruby's. Lilly ran ahead, keeping her eyes peeled for seashells and other treasures... you know, like disgusting bird feathers and pieces of grody seaweed.
Aaron and I used to frequent this particular Ruby's a lot back when we were
It was such a fun, spontaneous adventure. We think we might even head back this weekend. Can't get enough beach party action!

so cute!
